Jazz Pharmaceuticals is an innovative pharmaceutical enterprise generating medicines to support patients with neurological concerns such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, excessive daytime sleepiness, and oncology diseases such as leukemia and lung cancer. Data is crucial in developing, testing, and manufacturing these critical medicines. Salesforce is one of the key systems of record leveraged by the enterprise; however, other locations also generate data. CapStorm powers near real-time integration of critical Salesforce data into Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ global data fabric to streamline analytics and eliminate data silos.
This 20-year-old enterprise selected AWS as the core cloud storage platform for data critical to daily operations. The business uses Salesforce for sales enablement and automation in addition to marketing. The company also leverages various other platforms to maintain complex business operations across 13 global offices in 8 distinct countries. As a result, the enterprise needed a secure method to replicate Salesforce data into the AWS platform in high-frequency increments to power analytics and to integrate data generated in Salesforce into non-Salesforce systems.
CapStorm provided a tailored solution to meet Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ data replication and integration needs, focusing on high-frequency data ingestion, automatic schema mirroring, and scalable data storage.
CapStorm enabled incremental backups and replication of Salesforce data every two hours. By only replicating new or modified records, the solution minimized Salesforce API usage while ensuring up-to-date data availability for analytics.
CapStorm’s CopyStorm application provided automatic schema replication, which ensured any new Salesforce objects, fields, or managed packages were mirrored in AWS without manual intervention. This resulted in a scalable and future-proof solution.
Using SQLServer databases hosted on AWS, Jazz Pharmaceuticals could securely store and manage their Salesforce data, with multiple extract configurations supporting varying replication frequencies for different datasets.
The high-frequency replication allowed Jazz to integrate Salesforce data with other core systems. Data extracts ran every 2 hours instead of daily, allowing near real-time data ingestion and integration, providing near real-time insights that significantly improved forecasting and business intelligence capabilities.
Automation of the data replication process reduced manual intervention, allowing Jazz’s IT team to focus on strategic initiatives rather than managing data transfers.
The solution scaled alongside Jazz’s growing operations, with the automatic schema mirroring ensuring that new data models were seamlessly integrated as the business evolved.
